According to Fast Technology on February 13, car blogger “Di Fan Home” broke the news that BYD’s Pingshan headquarters has installed two super charging piles with a power of up to 1000KW. This news has attracted attention, and many netizens have called this power a bit outrageous.
The power reaches 1000KW, and its charging speed is amazing. Simple calculation shows that it only takes 6 minutes to charge 100 kWh of electricity at full power.
At present, the battery capacity of pure electric vehicles is generally less than 100 degrees, which means that the vehicle can be fully charged in a very short time. This is in sharp contrast to our common charging scenarios.
Generally, the power of 800V platform super charging piles on the market can reach 400kw or even 600kw. In contrast, 1000kw charging piles undoubtedly require more supporting upgrades. For example, the power grid at the input end has to withstand such a huge power transmission, which puts higher requirements on the stability and carrying capacity of the power grid.
At the same time, the output-end automotive power battery also needs to allow for corresponding high charging power, which involves technological breakthroughs in many aspects such as battery materials, structure, and management system.
Obviously, BYD has hidden a lot of new technologies in charging piles and power battery charging. The application of these new technologies not only demonstrates BYD’s deep technical reserves in the field of new energy vehicles, but also provides new directions and possibilities for the future development of electric vehicles.
