Volkswagen plans to launch a new electric SUV in 2026, the ID.2X. The company’s CEO Thomas Schfer announced on LinkedIn that the new model is expected to debut at the IAA Mobility event in September 2025 and will be named ID.2X. The ID.2X is built on the entry-level MEB platform and offers two battery options with a range of up to 450 kilometers. The starting price is expected to be around 25,000 pounds (about 2.229 million yuan), slightly higher than the ID.2’s 22,000 pounds.

The ID.2X will offer single-motor front-wheel drive and two battery options: 38 kWh and 58 kWh. In terms of interior design, the new car will be equipped with a 12.9-inch infotainment screen and a 10.9-inch driver display, and will offer a variety of driving modes including “classic” and “retro” to pay tribute to the classic models of the Beetle and Golf.
